An international team including The Royal Albert Hall, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Concert Theatre Works have combined to launch a new standard adaptation of Prokofiev’s ballet wedded to the greatest love story ever told.
Six actors perform fully staged with exhilarating fight choreography, dancing, and sumptuous period costumes. Bill Barclay’s seminal adaptation premiered at Tanglewood under the baton of Andris Nelsons, before embarking on a transatlantic tour to give adolescents their first classical art experience.
“Barclay did fulfil his vision and goal, ‘making live music feel essential.’…Barclay’s direction was spot-on….the swordplay was surprisingly effective”
“Packed an emotional wallop…Given the BSO’s past successes with Concert Theatre Works, it already looked like a good match on paper, and proved even better in practice.”
