Master puppeteers Gyre and Gimble (War Horse) forge a spellbinding candlelit performance to Max Richter’s beloved Vivaldi Four Seasons Recomposed.

This hypnotic story of the eternal cycle of rebirth is both live concert and puppet theatre. Inspired by Japanese Bunraku puppetry, Richter’s iconic genre-defying score is freshly interpreted in a wordless dance of visual mastery performed by some of the world’s leading puppeteers and baroque musicians.
Universally lauded, sold to capacity and sensationally reviewed, this one-of-a-kind production was created at Shakespeare’s Globe and will tour internationally in 2020.

Richter’s minimalistic score is interpreted back to Vivaldi by playing in candlelight on historical instruments in a new arrangement by Bill Barclay. The intricately carved, but curiously ambiguous puppets allow the audience to project their own narrative and emotions onto the characters. Love, war, life and death are depicted in a cyclic dance as the play’s faceless protagonists navigate the vivid landscape of Vivaldi’s pictorial masterpiece.
